Exploration of the Causal Associations Between Circulating Inflammatory Factors, Metabolites, And Cervical Cancer: A Bidirectional Mendelian Randomization Study And Mediation Analysis

Abstract: Although numerous studies have demonstrated the critical role that inflammatory factors play in the onset and progression of different malignancies, their causal relationship with cervical cancer and the putative metabolite mediators is still unknown. Our study design incorporates the direct correlation and mediating role of metabolites in the relationship between inflammatory factors and cervical cancer. The data for this article comes from multiple queues and consortia, including the FinnGen database. We conducted comprehensive pairwise genetic analysis and used a mediated Mendelian randomization (MR) design to assess the causal effect of inflammatory factors on cervical cancer. The causality in mediation analysis is optimized in this work. To investigate the causative relationship between inflammatory factors and cervical cancer, as well as the mediating function of metabolites through inverse variance weighted (IVW), mainly a two-step, bidirectional Mendelian randomization research was utilized. As supplementary analysis techniques, other techniques, including MR-Egger, Weighted median (WM), Simple mod, and Weighted mode were also used. One inflammatory factor (C-C motif chemokine 28) was found to have a protective effect on CC by MR analysis. These inflammatory factors may also have an impact on CC via changing the metabolite (Alpha−hydroxyisovalerate). When it comes to cervical cancer, the mediated impact of alpha-hydroxyisovalerate is 0.0417(-0.0989, 0.182) and the causal effect of C-C motif chemokine 28 is the total effect IVW: OR = 0.606, 95% CI [0.397–0.926], p = 0.020. -8.34% is the mediated fraction (19.8%, -36.4%). This finding points to an alpha-hydroxyisovalerate-mediated causal link between C-C motif chemokine 28 and cervical cancer. Abstract: Peri-implantitis is one of the main reasons for the failure of dental implants. Traditional implant surfaces lack antimicrobial properties and are prone to bacterial infections. In recent years, antimicrobial surface modification technologies for implants have become a research hotspot. These technologies endow implants with antimicrobial functions through physical, chemical, or biological methods to improve long-term success rates. Abstract: The incidence of adolescent scoliosis (AIS) in China has been increasing year by year and has become an important issue threatening the health of adolescents. This study systematically reviewed the definition, classification and pathological mechanism of adolescent scoliosis, revealing the significant influence of factors such as genetics, growth and development, and lifestyle on its occurrence. Survey data indicates that the public's awareness of diseases is insufficient, treatment costs are high, and the coverage rate of screening is low. It is urgent to strengthen health education and early screening work. Psychological intervention strategies emphasize the importance of family and social support. Quality Assurance and Professional Formation in Graduate Medical Education: Evidence from Internal Medicine Sector

Abstract: This study examines quality assurance mechanisms and professional formation processes in graduate medical education within Chinese healthcare and medical education institutions. Using panel data from 2018 to 2024, we analyze 7,890 firm-year observations from CNRDS and CSMAR databases. The research investigates how institutional quality assurance frameworks influence professional development outcomes. Results demonstrate significant positive relationships between structured quality assurance programs and professional formation indicators. Healthcare institutions with comprehensive quality frameworks show 23% higher professional development scores. Medical education institutions exhibit stronger correlations between quality metrics and graduate outcomes. The study reveals heterogeneous effects across institution types and geographical regions. Mechanism analysis indicates that quality assurance operates through enhanced supervision, standardized curricula, and performance monitoring. The evolution from HiAP to health integration follows a logical progression from conceptual dissemination to practical implementation. However, this process faces challenges such as interdepartmental coordination difficulties, complex health influencing factors, and policy implementation obstacles. To address these challenges, strategies are proposed including strengthening interdepartmental collaboration mechanisms, enhancing capacity to respond to health influencing factors, and improving policy implementation safeguards. Factors Influencing Rehabilitation Behavior in Stroke Patients

Abstract: Background: Stroke has high incidence and disability rates; rehabilitation is key to reducing disability and improving quality of life. This study identifies factors influencing rehabilitation behavior, supporting the development of personalized plans. Methods: This study identified stroke rehabilitation factors using the CFIR and created a questionnaire for follow-up analysis. Results: Qualitative interviews identified multiple barriers and facilitators across CFIR domains: patients (13 each, 5 domains), caregivers (14 barriers, 15 facilitators, 5 domains), and healthcare workers (14 barriers, 12 facilitators, 4–5 domains).Factor analyses of the questionnaires revealed levels of pain or discomfort (P=0.017), annoyance with daily activities (P=0.007), annoyance with social interaction (P=0.015), understanding of healthcare staff's explanations of the condition (P=0.046), accurate understanding of post-stroke rehabilitation (P=0.024), and the individual's sense of identification with the organization (P=0.003). (P=0.003) were associated with rehabilitation behavior. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions: This study used interviews and questionnaires to identify key factors influencing stroke patients’ and caregivers’ rehabilitation behaviors, highlighting links between behavior, context, and individual traits to support personalized rehabilitation. Gout Does Not Causally Increase the Risk of Endometrial Cancer: Evidence from Mendelian Randomization

Abstract: Background: Gout is a prevalent condition associated with chronic inflammation and metabolic dysregulation, both of which are known risk factors for various malignancies. However, the potential causal relationship between gout and endometrial cancer has not been systematically explored. Methods: A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted using genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics to evaluate the potential causal effect of genetically predicted gout on the risk of endometrial cancer. Genetic variants strongly associated with gout were selected as instrumental variables. The inverse variance weighted (IVW) method was used for the primary analysis, supplemented by MR-Egger and weighted median approaches. Sensitivity analyses included tests for pleiotropy, heterogeneity, and leave-one-out stability. Results: The MR analysis revealed no significant causal effect of gout on the risk of developing endometrial cancer (IVW OR = 1.015, 95% CI: 0.957–1.077, P = 0.614). Sensitivity analyses indicated no evidence of pleiotropy or heterogeneity, and the leave-one-out analysis confirmed the robustness of the results. Conclusion: This MR analysis found no evidence supporting a causal effect of gout on the risk of endometrial cancer. These results suggest that genetic predisposition to gout does not significantly influence the likelihood of developing endometrial cancer. A Study on the Current Status of Urban-Rural Health Disparities and the Impact of Food Policies

Abstract: My country exhibits significant health disparities between urban and rural residents, a phenomenon closely related to unbalanced regional economic development, uneven resource allocation, and public policy orientation. Currently, urban residents generally outperform rural residents in terms of life expectancy and chronic disease management, but rural areas face significant challenges in infectious disease prevention and control, maternal and child health care, and access to basic medical services. As a key factor influencing residents' nutritional intake and health outcomes, the design and implementation of food policies profoundly shape urban and rural health patterns. Research has found that the urban-biased food distribution system, subsidy policies, and uneven market regulation exacerbate nutritional imbalances and food safety risks among rural residents. Furthermore, rural nutrition intervention programs have limited coverage and inadequate precision, making it difficult to effectively address health inequalities caused by income constraints and market failures. This article proposes the development of a coordinated urban-rural food policy system: optimizing agricultural product price support and subsidy structures, shifting towards a nutrition-oriented approach; strengthening rural food market regulation and infrastructure development; and integrating community resources to develop nutrition education and affordable healthy food supply programs. Through policy coordination, the nutritional health of rural residents can be significantly improved, the urban-rural health gap can be narrowed, and the Healthy China strategy can be implemented. Abstract: The accelerated pace of modern life and the ever-increasing compression of sleep time have become a significant public health issue. Interestingly, rising obesity rates appear to coincide with sleep deprivation. A growing number of studies have found that insufficient sleep not only makes us tired but can also subtly alter our bodies, making us more susceptible to weight gain. What's going on here? We've observed that insufficient sleep disrupts the body's hunger signaling system—a decrease in leptin levels and an increase in ghrelin levels. This results in a constant craving for food, particularly for high-fat and high-sugar snacks. Simultaneously, the body's stress response system is activated, with increased production of stress hormones like cortisol. This interferes with the proper functioning of insulin, impairing the body's ability to process sugar and leading to increased fat accumulation, particularly visceral fat, which is more harmful to health. The body's internal clock is also disrupted, causing metabolic genes that should be active at specific times to become unresponsive, disrupting the overall rhythm of energy metabolism. Behaviorally, poor sleep can lead to increased inactivity, increased sitting time, and a decreased desire for exercise. Combined with decreased self-control, this can lead to increased choices of unhealthy foods. Therefore, to effectively manage weight and prevent obesity, simply focusing on "controlling your diet and moving your legs" is not enough; "good sleep" must be a key component. Abstract: Global cancer incidence continues to rise. According to the World Health Organization in 2022, there will be over 20 million new cancer cases and over 10 million deaths worldwide. Cancer has become a major public health threat to human health. Although surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy are currently mainstream treatments, they have significant limitations: surgery struggles to eliminate micrometastases and is only suitable for early-stage, localized tumors; chemotherapy drugs such as cisplatin are prone to severe side effects such as bone marrow suppression and nausea and vomiting, and cannot accurately distinguish between tumors and normal cells; radiotherapy relies on radiation to kill tumors, but it can easily damage the skin, mucous membranes, and internal organs in the irradiated area; and immunotherapies such as PD-1 inhibitors, while able to activate the body's immune response, only produce sustained efficacy in 20%-30% of patients and carry the risk of immune-related adverse reactions. Small molecule drugs (molecular weight <1000 Daltons) have become a core force in cancer treatment due to their unique advantages: they are easily absorbed by the intestine after oral administration and have strong tissue penetration, allowing them to directly reach tumor tissue and penetrate cell membranes to act on intracellular targets. Research on the Construction of Microtia Repair Scaffold Based on 3D Bioprinting Technology

Abstract: Microtia is a congenital auricular hypoplasia, clinically characterized by partial or complete loss of the auricle. This condition not only affects patients' hearing function but also significantly negatively impacts their psychological and social adaptation. Current mainstream treatments include autologous rib cartilage transplantation and implantation of artificial materials, but these are associated with issues such as secondary damage to the donor site, implant exposure, and insufficient morphological fidelity. Recent advances in 3D bioprinting technology have provided a new avenue for constructing highly compatible and biocompatible auricle scaffolds. This study focused on the use of 3D bioprinting technology to fabricate personalized auricle repair scaffolds and systematically evaluated their potential in terms of morphological fidelity, mechanical properties, and biological function. The research method primarily involved: first, 3D reconstruction using patient CT imaging data accurately reproduced the ear anatomy; then, using polycaprolactone (PEL) and gelatin-methacrylamide (GelMA) as the base materials, a composite scaffold with a hierarchical structure was fabricated using a combination of fused deposition modeling (FDM) and photopolymerization techniques; and then, using an in vitro chondrocyte co-culture system, the scaffold's cytocompatibility and chondrogenic efficacy were systematically evaluated. Experimental results show that the prepared scaffold is highly consistent with the complex curved surface of the ear in terms of morphology, has mechanical properties close to those of natural ear cartilage, presents a uniform and interconnected porous structure inside, and its degradation behavior can also be effectively controlled.
